Send an Abridge Note Into Epic

When you have finished reviewing and editing your note in the Abridge web editor, select Send Note to send it directly into Epic. Once sent, you can pull the note content into your patient's Epic chart using SmartLinks (dotphrases).

Before you send: two things to know

• The Patient Visit Summary (PVS) is not sent to Epic automatically — you will need to copy and paste it manually. See View a Patient Visit Summary for how to access it.
• If you manually added a patient who was not on your Worklist, your note cannot be routed to Epic automatically. You will need to copy and paste the note into Epic. See Record an encounter that does not appear in your worklist for more detail.

Pull your Abridge note into Epic using SmartLinks

Abridge content is pulled into your patient's Epic note through Epic SmartLinks. There is one SmartLink for each note section generated by Abridge. These work the same as any other SmartLink you already use in Epic.

Depending on how your Epic templates are set up, you can use SmartLinks in one of three ways:

• If your department uses a standard note template, your project team can update it to include the Abridge SmartLinks in the correct sections.
• If you use a personalized template, you can add the Abridge SmartLinks yourself wherever you want them to appear.
• If you do not use templates, you can type any SmartLink directly into a new note as a one-off.
