Send an Abridge Note Into Epic

When you’re done viewing and editing your note in the Abridge web editor, click “Send Now” to automatically send your note into Epic. Once you send your note into Epic, you can easily pull the content from Abridge into your patients’ notes in Epic.

Note: Your Patient Visit Summary will not be sent directly into Epic as it’s copy/paste for now. Also, if you manually added a patient because they did not appear in your worklist, you will need to copy/paste your Abridge-generated note into Epic.

Use dotphrases to pull in your Abridge note

Abridge content is pulled into the patient’s note in Epic through Epic SmartLinks. There is one SmartLink for each of the different note sections generated in Abridge. These SmartLinks work the same as other SmartLinks that you already use in Epic today.

There are different ways your Epic templates can be designed:

• If you have a standard template that you use within your department, your project team can update it to incorporate the Abridge SmartLinks in the correct sections.

• If you have a template that you have personalized for yourself, you can modify that template and incorporate the Abridge SmartLinks as you please.

• If you do not use templates, you can always pull these SmartLinks in as a one-off to new notes that you are writing.
