Abridge lets you control how much detail appears in the Physical Exam (PE) section of your notes by choosing a PE style setting. There are three options — Conservative, Limited, and Expanded — each suited to a different documentation style. You can change this setting at any time.
How to change your PE style setting
- In the web editor, select the menu icon (three horizontal bars) in the upper left corner.
- Select Note Settings.
- Scroll to the section titled How would you like to view your Physical Exams?
- Select Conservative, Limited, or Expanded.
Which style is right for you
Conservative
Best if you typically verbalize all your exam findings and perform targeted, detailed exams. Abridge documents what you say without filling in boilerplate.
Limited
Best if you mention a few notable positive and negative findings but want Abridge to populate template boilerplate for the rest. For example, saying "lungs are normal" will trigger the standard normal finding for that system.
Expanded
Best if you mention findings as you perform your exam but want the full standard template output by default, with your specific findings incorporated as changes. This option is most similar to a macro — mostly boilerplate with pertinent updates.
